About the Job

Under the direction of the Embarcadero YMCA Executive Director, the Senior Director of Alternative Education is responsible for the oversight, development and implementation of alternative education for the Embarcadero YMCA; this includes but is not limited to Youth Chance High School. The Senior Director of Alternative Education works in partnership with the San Francisco County Office of Education school leadership and governance, and community partners, to assess the school community’s needs and assets, ensure efficient coordination of student and family support services, and support the creation of a learning environment that focuses on student achievement and wellness. This position will design and create an implementation plan(s) for additional pathways for high school completion. The Senior Director will also provide clinical supervision to the trainees and staff clinicians at the Mental Health Branch. This position will supervise the Director of Youth Chance and the Transition and Alumni Coordinator.

Salary range: $95,000 to $107,000 per year

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • BA/BS in Social Work, psychology, education, social work or equivalent professional and community experience required
  • 8+ years of experience working in a school and/or non-profit agency setting
  • Experience in alternative education settings, managing and supporting a multi-disciplinary team
  • Possess a current and active California license that is not under suspension or probation
  • Have been licensed in California or any other state for at least two (2) years out of the last five (5) years prior to the commencement of supervision.
  • Have practiced psychotherapy during at least two (2) years out of the last five (5) years prior to the commencement of supervision
  • Provided direct supervision to MFT Trainees, AMFTs, Associate Professional Clinical Counselors, or Associate Clinical Social Workers who perform psychotherapy during at least two (2) years out of the last five (5) years prior to the commencement of supervision.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards of practice, including child abuse reporting laws.
  • Excellent organizational, relationship building, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work with diverse district/school staff, parents, and community members Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Fingerprint and TB test clearance
  • Current YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in alternative education settings, managing and supporting a multi-disciplinary team
  • Bilingual language skills: Spanish
  • Education or extensive experience in social work, mental health or education
