The YMCA of Greater San Francisco is committed to providing quality youth programming and exceptional summer camp experiences to our Bay Area families. At Y day camp, kids can develop skills, self-confidence, new friendships and a sense of belonging – all while having tons of fun.
Trained Youth Development Staff
Our youth development leaders are trained in CPR and First Aid.

The Y abides by all public health guidelines set by the city, county, and state.

We offer morning and afternoon extended care at no extra cost.

Summer camp week 1 (June 9, 2025) through week 6 (July 18, 2025) will be held at Jose Ortega Elementary School. The remaining summer camp weeks 7 through 10 (July 22 through August 16) will be at the Stonestown Family YMCA – Annex for camper’s program site drop off and pick up. Campers enrolled for weeks 8 through 10 will be off-site for the entire day, attending daily field trips.

GENERAL CAMP INFORMATION
Program Information
Campers are organized into small age-appropriate groups. Each camp session is led by well-trained youth development staff. Our daily activities are developed with your camper’s age and skills in mind, tailored to keep your camper engaged and having fun. This summer, your camper can expect their week to be full of excursions, arts and crafts, camp songs, building friendships, and so much more!

Our Traditional Day Camp group, the Discoverers, serves entering campers who are entering Kindergarten and 1st grades and are introduced to a fun day filled with intentional relationship building activities, arts and crafts, recreation time, songs and games, and STEAM focus!
This group will travel on field trips every Tuesday and Thursday visiting landmarks, parks, or interactive venues within the Bay Area.
Campers will spend their week playing, making friends, learning, and having lots of fun in small groups of 8-10 campers!
Specialty Y-Tykes Day Camps
Ages: 4.5–6 | Grades: TK-1
Our Specialty Y-Tyke Camps are traditional camps made just for Transitional Kindergartners through 1st graders! This camp offers everything you can think of when it comes to summer camp.
We focus on hands-on experiences, arts, media, and challenges that make learning fun. Our weekly themes align with arts & crafts, camp songs, and organized games and allow day-campers to really enjoy a unique experience, while staying on-site Monday through Thursday, and an off-site-field trip on Friday (or the end of the week)!

Our Traditional Day Camp group, the Adventurers Camp serves campers entering 2nd and 3rd grades and offers greater challenges for youth to explore.
Campers will experience field trips on Wednesdays and Fridays to various adventure locations, such as landmarks, parks, or museums around the Bay Area.
They will spend their week playing, making new friends, and having lots of fun within small groups of 10 campers!

Specialty Camp is designed for our most active and curious campers, offering unique themed weeks that focus on skill-building, boosting confidence, and making lasting friendships.
Each week focuses on an exciting, unique theme that incorporates specialized enrichment opportunities such as life skills, self-defense, recreation and sports, or even travel!
Through engaging activities and some expert-led programs, campers will have the chance to explore their interests, enhance their fitness, and boost their self-esteem in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Specialty STEAM Day Camps
STEAM is everywhere. There is so much to explore! Throughout this camp, we will be diving deep into some of our campers’ favorite STEAM subjects. As we explore circuits, rockets, and more our campers will gain a deeper understanding of some of the most fun STEAM topics out there.
Hands on workshops where campers build machines, buildings, vehicles and other structures out of LEGO® bricks, using one of a kind model plan designed …. While exploring principles of science, mathematics, engineering, architecture, physics and more, campers will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Swimmers will learn basic water safety and swimming skills by participating in daily swim lessons and organized water and pool games. Camp Leaders are in the water during pool time, with Certified Lifeguards and Swim Teachers.
This camp strives to build youth’s confidence in and around water. Campers will be in the water for two 45-minute sessions daily. The morning session is spent getting comfortable being in water and learning basic swim strokes from Swim Instructors. The afternoon session is a “free swim.” The rest of the day is combined with active games, crafts, and fun activities.
Participants must be 6 years or older by 6/09/25.

Campers will also explore the principles of striking and self-defense in an engaging and supportive environment. Splash your way through summer with pools, water parks, slip and slides and water based fun! We’ll work our way around the Bay to visit some awesome waterslides, splash around and stay cool this summer as we play and explore water adventures!

Swimmers will learn basic water safety and swimming skills by participating in daily swim lessons and organized water and pool games. Camp Leaders are in the water during pool time, with Certified Lifeguards and Swim Teachers.
This camp strives to build youth’s confidence in and around water. Campers will be in the water for two 45-minute sessions daily. The morning session is spent getting comfortable being in water and learning basic swim strokes from Swim Instructors. The afternoon session is a “free swim.” The rest of the day is combined with active games, crafts, and fun activities.
Participants must be 6 years or older by 6/09/25.

Summer Camp FAQs
We will notify families by email if a space becomes available. You will have 48 hours to accept or decline the waitlisted spot. If we do not hear back from you, we will move on to the next child on the list. For confidentiality reasons and standard operating procedures, we do not reveal where a child’s spot is on the waitlist.
YMCA leaders are encouraging, patient, and can help facilitate successful camp experiences for children with mild to moderate disabilities. For specific questions regarding your child, please contact the branch-specific site contact.
- All deposits are non-refundable
- Cancellations that come in 10 business days or more before the program begins or earlier are subject to a refund of payment but do not include the deposit.
- Cancellation requests made 9 days or less than the program start date will have no refund.
You can expect to hear from your camp team roughly a week before the camp week begins, which will include details like a packing list, meals, snack policies, etc.

Financial Assistance is available to families who qualify.

Applicants can expect to hear back from an associate in approximately 15 business days with award details.
