ACTIVITIES AT CAMP

There are so many activities for you and your family to enjoy while at camp.

Your weekend may include some of the following activities:

  • hiking
  • archery
  • arts & crafts
  • canoeing
  • swimming
  • rock wall climbing
  • campfires

and so much more!

Most activities will be available as ‘drop-in’ (unless specified otherwise), so your family can choose their own adventure and move between program areas at their own pace.

There are some activities that will require sign-ups ahead of time to ensure you have enough time to complete them and avoid overcrowding programs above our safety guidelines.

Please note that not all activities will be offered at the same time, and activity choices will vary by season.

Some activities require a YMCA staff member to be present for you to participate in. These activities are archery, canoes, rock climbing, swimming, gardening, slingshots, outdoor cooking, and tie-dye.

If a YMCA staff member is not present at the activity/areas provided above, you may not proceed until a staff member is present.

We offer other activities that do not require a YMCA staff member to be present, such as giant chess, ping-pong, board games, basketball, and arts and crafts.

Upon check-in, you will receive a schedule that will provide you with information about the activity areas such as, which are available, where to meet, and when they are running.

Please note that activities will only be available during scheduled times; equipment is not accessible outside of program times.

LODGING

We have different options for families of any size.

Cabins are open style with bunks; each cabin is a bit unique in size or shape, and some may share a porch. Some cabins have bathrooms located inside, while others utilize a bath house right outside.

Families who register as individuals (not private cabins) will be grouped together in hostel-style cabins. The YMCA staff will do their best to fulfill cabinmate requests with other families, and individuals who are registered together will not be split up.

For families registered for private cabins, cabin assignments will be available at check-in.

If you have booked a private cabin and would like to bring more people than the 8 allotted at registration, please reach out so that we can assign your cabin and bill for extra campers accordingly. Not all cabins can accommodate more campers.

A nonrefundable deposit is due upon registering for your cabin. The remaining balance is charged two weeks before your stay starts.

A credit card will be needed to register online.

Snacks

Camp Jones Gulch strives to provide well-rounded meals; however, if you find yourself still hungry outside of mealtimes, there will be fresh fruit, tea, and coffee provided at the dining hall outside of mealtimes.

Families should avoid bringing snacks into cabins so that we can keep our cabins clean and free from trash and insects/animals.

On hot days water coolers will be provided at activity stations. Water bottles can also be refilled at any sink at camp.

Our kitchen staff can accommodate the most common dietary restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets, as well as common food allergies. For some specialized diets, we recommend bringing supplemental food.

Camp is home to a wide range of animals; you’re most likely to see banana slugs, squirrels, and deer.

However, we are in the woods, and other animals are present as well but tend to stay farther away due to human noise and disruptiveness.

As with any wildlife, if you encounter an animal, please leave it be, stay 25 feet or more away, and do not try to touch or feed them.

If you encounter an animal that looks sick, or you are concerned about the animal you saw please contact the camp director or program coordinator.
