The mission of TCS is to create a learning community where teachers, children, staff, families, and community members collaborate to foster academic excellence. They also encourage children to reach their full potential, as well as create critical thinkers through an integrated, hands-on curriculum, and foster joyful learning in an environment that encourages child centered experiences. The Y is happy to be a part of this mission and ensures children are safe while helping to close the Achievement Gap and prevent Summer Learning Loss.
In 2013, The YMCA took over all education, recreation, health and family services for the residents of Treasure Island. At no charge to all residents, the Y is able to provide care to the youth after school and during the summer, and a state-of-the-art gymnasium geared towards healthy living. The Y also provides the community with family events, fostering a special community among its TI residents, social service employees, and city officials.
Youth Chance High School is a county community school that is operated through a partnership between the Embarcadero YMCA, San Francisco Unified School District, and the San Francisco Department of Education. Our school specializes in working with young people ages 16-19 years old, who have severely fractured relationships to education, academic institutions, and how they see and experience themselves as learners.
Something for everyone, all in one place! Being a part of the Y means convenient, all-inclusive access to all of the benefits and amenities you need.
