The Y helps students discover the resources, personal strengths and relationships that will help them achieve and move on to positive futures.
The Y is committed to ensuring all young people stay engaged with their schools, and create a clear path to graduation. Our academic support and school re-engagement programs help students discover the resources, personal strengths and relationships that will help them close achievement gaps and move on to positive futures.
Afterschool programs provide young people and their families with curriculum that is vetted by the California Department of Education and delivers 1/3 recreation, 1/3 academics, and 1/3 enrichment curriculum- because learning takes many approaches. Through our STEAM Academy, homework help, sports leagues, credit recovery services, and so much more, our vision is to develop the next generation of leaders through the delivery of high quality afterschool programming and targeted intervention services.
To date, the Y has helped over 5,000 young people re-engage with school and fulfill their potential through our five re-engagement programs: Peer Court in Marin County, Truancy Assessment Resource Center (TARC), the Center for Academic Re-entry and Empowerment (CARE), Youth Chance High School, and Alternatives to Suspension in San Mateo County.
Additionally, the YMCA reaches over 10,000 students a day via multiple afterschool program sites that are located on school campuses, in community centers, and throughout YMCA branch facilities.
