POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Senior Executive Director, the Director of Membership and Wellness is responsible for driving, leading and managing a seamless and meaningful YMCA experience, from a person’s first point of contact with the Y to the daily engagement and wellness support of current members. They must exude professionalism and confidence in knowledge of YMCA programming, implementing the Y’s Member Engagement Principles of welcome, connect, support and invite during all member and guest interactions. This position requires a deep knowledge of sales, customer service, process creation, project management, and data analysis and knowledge of wellbeing services. This position will focus on the member experience by managing strategies in marketing/communication, wellness offerings, and facility cleanliness/maintenance, by which we attract and retain members, positioning the YMCA for continued growth.
The Director of Membership and Wellness should have strong knowledge of fiscal management, business operations, sales, and data analytics. This person must be able to increase member units, retention, engagement, and satisfaction of members. This position will also lead collaboration with YGSF Association support teams for all branch marketing and communications including promotions, internal and external communications, web and social media presence. They will directly supervise all Member Engagement and Wellness staff. Supervision responsibilities will include hiring and training new staff and providing on-going coaching and training for all Membership and Wellness staff. This position will be a member of multiple association-wide interdisciplinary teams, including the Member Experience POD.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS”.
- 21+ years old
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- 2 + years in a supervisory role focusing on customer service, sales and/or marketing
- Experience working with diverse populations, community liaising, and development, strong interpersonal, leadership and verbal/written communication skills, good working knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Experience with developing and managing budgets
- YMCA approved CPR & FA and Child Abuse Prevention training within 60 days of hire
- YGSF required job-specific trainings for Membership and Wellness, including Group Exercise
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Director-level YMCA leadership experience in Membership or Wellness
- Bi-lingual (Spanish or Cantonese)
- Experience with Salesforce
- YUSA Team Leader certification
