Experience the unique opportunity to race through the historic, bustling streets of San Francisco’s Chinatown—known for its vibrant architecture, rich scents, and lively atmosphere. Whether you’re tackling the (slightly hilly) course in person or joining virtually from around the globe, this event welcomes everyone.
As we celebrate the Year of the Snake in 2025, let the wisdom and mystery of the snake spirit guide you on your journey. Proceeds from the run will directly support youth and teen programs, social services for low-income families, and financial assistance to ensure the Chinatown YMCA’s programs are accessible to all.

Event Information
In-Person Runners: The option to receive your bib by mail ends Sunday, XXXX@ 11:59pm pst. T-shirts (and tech shirt if purchased) would still need to be picked up in person.
Virtual Runners: In order to receive your runner kits by the start of the virtual event (date) registration must be submitted by Wednesday, XXXX @ 11:59pm pst. All others who register for the virtual event after XXXXX will receive their runner kits after XXXXX, but no later than XXXXX.
Participants can opt to either run virtually and upload their unofficial results or run in person at the live event and get their official results. Whether you choose to stay virtual or join us at the start line there are two runner kit options:
Option 1 – Basic Package: Includes race registration, race t-shirt, finisher medal, and goodie bag.
Option 2 – Premium Package: Includes race registration, race t-shirt, long sleeve performance tech shirt, finisher medal, and goodie bag.
In-Person: Sunday, March 2, 20205, rain or shine, THE RACE IS ON! Start time is 8:00am and will go for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until 9:20am. Runners may start lining up at 7:15am.
Virtual: Participants in the virtual 5k/10k will have 3 weeks to complete and submit their results on the race roster site. The date range to submit results is XXXXX. Directions on how to submit results will be provided via email upon registration.
COURSE OVERVIEW AND SUGGESTED ROUTES
Course Overview:
Our in-person course is a 5K RUN/WALK or a 10K RUN (no 10K walkers) and starts at 8:00AM on Grant Avenue/Sacramento Street. It finishes at 9:20am on Kearny/Sacramento Street. The course has some short hills but is mostly flat. Mile markers along the way are on the right side of the course. The 5K is one time around the course and the 10K is two loops around the course. All participants on the course are to be registered for the in-person event and wearing the official bib#. BANDIT RUNNERS/WALKERS who have not registered and are not wearing bib#’s will be asked to leave the course by the course Marshals and will not be allowed in the finish line chutes.

Year of the Snake Pins
Runners who are Year of the Snake will receive a Snake enamel pin.
Virtual Runners: All virtual runners will receive their runner kits via USPS to the address listed at registration. Runners who wish to receive their kits on or before XXXXX will need to register by XXXX @ 11:59pm pst. All others who register for the virtual event after XXXX will receive their runner kits after XXXX , but no later than XXXX. Package arrival is dependent on USPS so are subject to delays. We appreciate your patience and understanding if there are delays.
In-Person Runners: Before XXXX, you can choose to have your bib mailed to by selecting that option at registration . Runner shirts, tech shirts, and pins will still need to be picked up in person at one of the bib pick up times listed below.
Bib and T-Shirt pick ups are schedule at the Chinatown YMCA @ 855 Sacramento St during the following times:
Friday, from 9:00am – 6:00pm
Saturday, from 9:00am – 3:00pm
Race day, Sunday, from 7:00am – 8:00am
We’re excited to have everyone come out for the Year of the Snake. In the event we run out of LNY Run shirts, Runners will have an opportunity to submit an order, and we will mail them to you.
PARKING: Paid parking is available at Portsmouth Square Garage (Kearny St. @ Clay St.) and Sutter Stockton Garage (333 Sutter St. @ Stockton St.). Street Parking is available if you arrive early, but please do not park in designated “RACE COURSE/NO PARKING” areas, block garages, or park in private lots. Limited free metered parking is available Sundays.
TRANSPORTATION: We encourage folks to take public transportation. There are numerous muni lines that will take you to the event and Montgomery Bart station is .4 miles away from our starting line. For public transportation information, go to 511.org.
Race Results: In-person runners – We will be using Chipped timing! You will be able to get you times right away at here and we will email all participants the site where they can find their results as well. Virtual runners – please see the ” Tracking Your Virtual Run & Submitting Results” section below for instructions on how to record/submit results.
Post Race: Join us at Portsmouth Square for post-event awards, refreshments, and fun for the family! We will have water and fruit available, goody bags, winner announcements, and presentation of the best dressed DRAGON! Visit booths from our sponsors and the Chinatown YMCA for more goodies.

Awards: Top finishers in each category (male and female for youth and adult) will receive special awards from our generous sponsors. Prizes will be awarded to the Best Dressed DRAGON! Step 1: Download the It’s Your Race App. Here you will find step-by-step instructions. You may complete your virtual run at the time and location of your choice between XXXX and XXXX
Step 2: You can submit your virtual result by clicking here.
*If you need assistance submitting your results, please follow these instructions.
Step 3: Once there, you will be prompted to sign in to Race Roster or enter your name and confirmation number (which can be found on the original confirmation email you received after registering for the run).
Step 4: Select the event in which you participated from the drop-down menu and enter the time it took to complete your run. Optional: If you would like to upload a photo of your app/device summary report, you can do that.
Hit submit and you are all set!
