Urban
Services YMCA currently conducts community outreach through a number
of ways. Parent Advisory Councils at our Community Beacon Centers
meet monthly to discuss pressing school issues and develop solution-based
plans for school improvement. Additionally, Community Councils at our
Family Resource Centers and our Community Beacon Centers each meet
monthly to focus on arising issues in the community and to offer
workable solutions. Finally, Youth
Leadership Councils are in place at our Community Beacon Centers
and our Safe Haven that examine how to deliver high quality youth programs and how to deal with the issues and
challenges youth face on a daily basis.
Urban Services YMCA staff takes a broader leadership role when
it comes to issues relating to youth and families. Our organization participates in local community forums and organizations including Coleman Advocates,
San Francisco Recreation and Parks, and YO! SF to name a few. Below
are a few examples of programs that help us engage with the communities
we serve.
