YMCA CAMP JONES GULCH What to do this summer for the time of your life!
ABOUT YMCA CAMP JONES GULCH  YMCA Camp Jones Gulch is a resident camp spread over 927 acres of redwood forest, open meadows and pines, a few short miles from the ocean. For over 65 years, youth and families have attended the summer programs offered by the YMCA of San Francisco at Jones Gulch. Current programs serving children and youth ages 8-17 include Summer Resident camp, High Adventure travel camp and family camps. Summer camp takes advantage of the natural settings, while also offering program specialties such as rock climbing, horseback riding, arts and crafts, swimming and a variety of sports programs.
SUMMER STAFF  YMCA Camp Jones Gulch Staff are a group of caring individuals who come together each summer from all over the world to make a positive difference in the lives of our summer campers. They range from teachers and youth workers to college students in all areas of concentration. They represent a diversity of experience, cultures and even languages, but share a passion for working with youth and a desire to be a part of the camp community. Last year, counselors came from California, Florida, Colorado, New York, Colombia, England, Australia, South Africa, Hungary, Switzerland and France.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR  YMCA Camp Jones Gulch is looking for responsible and caring individuals to bring their skills and a healthy attitude to our summer staff community. Our number one priority is finding counselors and program staff who will model positive healthy living for our campers. We are also looking for enthusiasm, character, and activity skills that can support and add to our program.

ON THE JOB  Counselors at Camp Jones Gulch live in cabins with 10 to 12 campers and spend much of their day with that group. Throughout each one week session, counselors act as parent and friend for their campers, with lots of opportunity to have a positive impact in their lives.
  Some program counselors will be invited to come six weeks before camp and one week after summer camp, as Jones Gulch is also a site for a variety of outside groups. Many of these groups take advantage of our recreational programs, such as swimming, horseback riding and climbing tower. During the seven weeks of summer resident camp, program counselors are an integral part of the camp community, offering programs and instruction, assisting cabin counselors with their groups and participating in all camp activities.
JOB POSITIONS
Cabin Counselors Manage the health, welfare, and development of a cabin group of 10 to 12 campers under the direction of the head counselor. Counselors will live with either 8 or 14 year old youth and assist in the program activities under the guidance of the program counselors. Qualifications: Age 18, CPR/first aid certified, and youth work experience helpful. Salary starts at $250/week, Room and BD.
Assistant Counselors Assistant counselors will help the cabin counselor with their duties, which include managing the health, welfare and development of a cabin group of 10 to 12 campers. Assistant counselors will work with 8 and 11 year old youth. Qualifications: Age 17, CPR/first aid certified, and youth work preferred. Salary starts at $240/week, Room and BD.
Program Counselors Responsible for teaching and overseeing the activities and specialty units in horseback riding, nature studies, sports, swimming, group building, archery, rock climbing, canoeing, hiking, ropes course, mountain biking, arts and crafts, surfing, drama, backpacking, to junior high age youth. They live in the cabins and assist when not working at their activities. Qualifications: Age 19, CPR/first aid certified. Certification in their specialty. Salary starts at $250/week, include Room and BD.
