Support the Y - Strengthen Your Community
Your support is necessary to fund many of the Y programs and services that families that are in need use every day. Together we can ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn grow and thrive in a YMCA program.
Here are a few examples of how the Y makes a difference in your neighborhood:
- Youth development: On any given day, there are nearly 5,000 chronically truant students on the streets of
- Healthy Living: The Marin YMCA cardiac therapy program offers a valuable resource for post-coronary patients who suffer from debilitating exercise limitations. Through one on one support, individuals begin exercising again and regain their physical and psychological health. Through coaching, peer support and a customized individual improvement plan, participants are able to rejoin regular aerobics classes on both land based and aquatic offerings.
- Social Responsibility: Giving back through volunteerism is what drives the YMCA Building Futures mentoring program. Building Futures is a one-on-one mentoring program serving youth 6-18 years old from all three counties served. For 19 years, volunteer mentors have helped move kids from risk to resiliency by committing one year of their life to ensure that the youth have the resources to empower themselves and find future success.
While programs may develop in one neighborhood, the strength of the Y is that we leverage great programs and take those to other communities that then benefit. Again, at the Y, no child, family or adult is turned away due to an inability to pay. We recognize that for communities to succeed, everyone must be given the opportunity to be healthy confident, connected and secure. We can only make that promise through the support of our donors to the Y’s Annual Giving Campaign.
