Aquatic Lesson Coordinator
Description
General Function:
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Aquatic Lesson Coordinator will help with the maintenance, delivery, and development of the Private Lesson Program. This position is highly focused on customer service and should improve communication, membership retention, program participation and the overall efficiency of the private lesson program. Assists the Aquatics Director with hiring and training of Group and Private Lesson Staff and the development of Group Lesson Programming. Responsible for multiple functions to include data input, maintenance and reports, research, copying, filing, mailing, phone calls, and program promotion.
Schedule:
Aquatic Lesson Coordinator is scheduled during 75-100% of operational hours. Aquatic Lesson Coordinator must be available to work specific shifts based on their assigned position.
Skills and Requirements
Entry Requirements:
1. Minimum 18 years of age.
2. Current YMCA approved first aid certification.
3. Current YMCA approved CPR certification.
4. At least 2 years experience in customer service.
5. Current YMCA approved Lifeguard certification.
6. Demonstrated ability to lead children in the development of swimming skills.
7. Ability to observe and instruct participants in proper stroke techniques.
8. Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child.
9. This position requires that you be PC literate, proficient in MS Office applications: Excel, Word, and have data entry experience.
10. Organizational skills, prioritizing abilities, superior human relation skills, strong clerical skills (typing 50+ WPM) and must have good communication skills - verbal, written and phone.
11. Accuracy is extremely important and attention to detail is a must.
12. Possesses mature judgment and sound decision-making.
13. Have the ability to relate to people in a positive manner, and interpret YMCA aquatic program philosophy.
14. Must have excellent customer service skills, and have the ability to relate to diverse populations.
15. Have the ability to motivate others in the areas of self-awareness and self-confidence through swimming and aquatics.
16. Individual must be able to interpret YMCA aquatic program philosophies, and relate to public, parents and students in a positive manner.
17. Exercises mature judgment and sound decision-making.
18. Attend and receive certification for YSL instructor trainer.**
*Within 90 days of employment or at first available training.
Essential Functions
1. Maintains and develops private lesson program by booking privates, returning phone calls and communicating with instructors and members.
2. Responsible for swim lesson programming when Aquatics Director is not present.
3. Assists with hiring and recruiting of new staff instructors.
4. Assumes a leadership role in staff in-services.
5. Improves customer service by returning phone calls in a timely manner, answering questions, and providing tours. Must be able to answer questions about the Aquatics Department and Branch.
6. Improves overall department organization and systems of communication.
7. Maintains effective relationships with the public, participants and other staff members.
8. Actively promotes programs and membership to members and non-members.
9. Fosters community atmosphere by working with members in-person and over the phone to insure needs are met and retention levels are improved.
10. Communicates regularly with aquatic management staff.
11. Attends all staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
12. Demonstrate the "Character Counts" values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility in all your dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.
13. Participate in training and abides by the "New Perspectives" guidelines for the YMCA of San Francisco.
14. Assumes a leadership role in Strong Communities Campaign.
15. Assists with administrative duties as needed.
16. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
