Community Center Hours
Monday–Thursday 8:00am – 8:30pm
Friday 8:00am – 8:30pm
Saturday 9:00am – 6:30pm
Sunday 9:00am – 4:30pm
Children age 7 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times in the Community Center. Siblings 14 and older may be considered a guardian. Exceptions are made if the child is registered in a program lead by a YMCA staff or volunteer. However, children age 7 and younger must be brought to and picked up from the program by a guardian.
Children and teens age 8–14 are allowed into the community center without a guardian but MUST sign in and out with the Community Center staff.
• Anyone using the Community Center is responsible for leaving the facility as it is found. Trash must be placed in garbage cans, games and other equipment must be returned to its proper storage areas.
• Foul or abusive language and behavior will not be tolerated. Please treat each other with respect.
• Smoking, alcohol, and use of drugs are prohibited in the building or on the property.
• Food and drinks are allowed in the Family Room and Volunteer Lounge only.
• When participating in activities that require changing clothes (swimming, ballet class, etc) please refrain from changing in the hallways or other general use areas. Men, Women, and Family Locker Rooms are available for your convenience.
The Chinatown YMCA is committed to providing a variety of experiences for Community Members. The educational and recreational programs offered provide youth, families, and seniors with opportunities to expand their horizons in art and culture, fitness, networking, and education.
The Chinatown YMCA’s Community Center consists of the Family Room, Teen Center, and the Volunteer Lounge. These areas are available to both Fitness and Community Members.

The Fun Card is your all access pass to FUN! It is a simple and easy way to experience the different activities and programs the Chinatown YMCA has to offer in the Community Center. A family may purchase a card for $30 (contains 30 stamps). Each time you participate in a Fun Card-eligible program or activity, you simply stamp your card (no separate payment needed). Purchase your card today and experience the FUN!

Gardening- Growing Together
The new YMCA gardening program is an exciting program for youth to help plant our own garden in the back patio. Youth will be able to design their own planter boxes and learn the basics of gardening. We will create our own garden with veggies, a variety of beautiful flowers and other
LEGO Club
The Lego Club is for any youth who loves and wants to play with legos every Saturday at the YMCA! Everyone will use their imagination to build space ships, skyscrapers and new worlds, as well as experiment with mechanics. Get ready for car races too!
Science Discovery
The Science Discovery program will challenge the YMCA youth to explore the world of science! Like real-life scientists, we will conduct engaging scientific experiments like erupting volcanoes, the egg drop challenge and creating electricity. It’s a great way to learn about science and have a fun time.
Community Gym
Bring your family, friends, or come on your own to play badminton, basketball, or ping pong during Community Gym (our designated gym time for Community Center members).
This will be an open space for you to explore a sport you’ve never tried or master the sport you love. Playing sports is a fun way to stay in shape and be healthy. Visit the Community Center for more details.

Badminton
Come join us for Badminton in our gym. We will set up some nets and have equipment available for you to check out at our Welcome Center. It’s a great way to hang out with family and friends while getting a great workout.
Community Swim
Join us for fun in the pool during Community Swim, our designated pool time for Community Members. It’s a great way to bond with the family while playing fun games in the pool.}
Craft Corner
Craft Corner allows children to express their creativity and lets their artistic ability shine. It helps develop fine motor skills and stimulates their brain. Different craft projects are featured each week, and may include making pillows, jewelry, picture frames, flower collages, greeting cards, and more!
Story Time
Travel to space with astronauts, go back in time with dinosaurs, or live your own fairytale in a castle. The sky is the limit with books. Come join us for Storytime at the Y. Books are a fun and great way to build vocabulary and improve listening, focusing, and comprehension skills. Expand your child’s world and mind and join us for Storytime.
Satur-Play
Led by teens from our SOMANYDYNAMOS leadership group. We offer two hours of activity driven playtime to the youth in our Community Center once a month. Activities will include team building games, arts and crafts, cooking projects and more. Ready…Set…PLAY!!
Family Outings
Come join us once a month for a Family Outing. We will provide transportation and make the plans. All you need to do is show up and be ready to HAVE FUN!!! You will be able to spend quality time as a family, meet new friends, and check out parts of the cities you may have never seen. Family Outings may include bowling in Pacifica, Fruit Picking, pedal boat riding at Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park and more!
Family Meals at the Y
You and your family are invited to join us once a month for a Family Meal at the Y. We will be exploring different types of foods from all over the world! There will always be an interactive family activity planned with lunch or dinner. So leave all the cooking to us and come join us for good food and fun activities for the whole family.
Community Center Tutoring
The Community Center Tutoring Program provides small group tutoring for Elementary School Students who need academic assistance. The focus of the program is literacy and homework help. Students are put into small group settings where they are separated by ages and academic levels.
The students will have consistent tutors each week. The tutors will facilitate by leading group reading sessions helping students practice their listening and comprehension skills. They will also aid students with a variety of academic worksheets to improve both math and reading skills.
Community Center Birthday Club
Celebrate your Birthday with others that share the same month! The last Saturday of every month, we will be having a baking party that will celebrate all the birthdays that took place that month. We will be baking cupcakes, cookies, and cakes with plenty of SPRINKLES!!!
