About the Job
Urban Services YMCA is seeking Extended Teachers to provide tutorial services at James Denman Middle School Beacon.
The Extended Teacher (ET) will ensure the alignment of vision, expectations, and outcomes between the ASP and school day, with a particular focus on specialized academic components of the ASP (i.e., tutoring program, intensive academic case management (tier 3), literacy/math interventions, etc.).
In addition, the ET should be able to support the ASP with implementation of any Behavior RTI and/or Culture and Climate initiatives taking place during the school day. The ET will use student level data to inform planning and implementation of the after school academic component(s).
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years or older
- Current employment as a credentialed teacher approved by Site Principal and Site Coordinator
- Strong oral and written communication, presentation, organization, and collaboration skills
- Clear understanding of school site goals and priorities
- Experience implementing system-wide strategies
- Demonstrated leadership experience at school site
- Must be highly motivated to provide quality After School opportunities to youth
- Must be comfortable leading academic support and specialized enrichments with youth
- Must be available during after school program hours
- Must be willing to participate in bi-annual evaluations and supervision meetings as needed
- YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certified (may complete upon hire)
- TB test clearance
- Background check fingerprint clearance
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Bilingual in Spanish, Cantonese, or Mandarin
- Specialized knowledge and experience teaching various subjects/activities
