1997 2007

The Presidio Community YMCA celebrated its 10th Anniversary in 2007, we invite you to join us to celebrate this unique YMCA in the Presidio National Park.

In 1997 we opened our doors in the beautiful Presidio National Park.  We continue to work in our community to build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities, serving thousands of people who live and work in the Presidio Community and surrounding neighborhoods. Our programs benefit people of all ages, origins, and socio-economic levels.

We are in three buildings on the Presidio - The Main Post Fitness Center, Letterman Aquatics Center and Letterman Gym.  2006/2007 both the Main Post Fitness and Letterman Aquatics Centers received safety and aesthetic renovations.

We appreciate you, our members, for being an integral part of our existance and accomplishments over the past decade.  We cannot wait to see what the years ahead will bring!

The Main Post Fitness Center houses our fully equipped fitness facility.  We offer a variety of strength and cardiovascular equipment upgraded in 2007, along with a full size basketball, for a vairety of youth, adult and family activities during the year.  We have fully trained and qualified staff on site to assist and answer any questions.    In addtion, the Presidio YMCA Group Exercise program offer over 100 classes a week from classic step and resistance training to Presidio walks & hikes, classes specific to Active Older Adults, Spinning, Pre/Post natal fitness, Yoga and Pilates.

Our Aquatic Center is on Gorgas Ave. We have a full size pool and a smaller teaching pool. Aquatics offer lap swim, aqua fitness, water running, recreational swim, and adult and youth swim lessons. Next to the pool is Letterman Gym. This is where most or our youth sports programs occur, as well as, day camp and teen center.

Along with the three buildings on the Presidio, we manage the Presidio Park Tennis Courts at Fort Scott, Ruger and the Presidio Bowling Alley. These are available for facility members. We offer group and private tennis lessons, as well as league, tournament play and new in 2006 Cardio Tennis - a cardio/strength Group Exercise workout for everyone (tennis and non-tennis players)

Along with programs in the Presidio, we extend into the community through various schools and outreach programs. Our Outreach Programs range anywhere from after school recreation to outdoor adventure to leadership programs.

A critical focus of the Presidio Community YMCA has been youth and teens. We deliver programs for youth of all ages through camping, after-school recreation programs, community outreach, teen clubs, aquatics, and youth sports. Caring professional staff and volunteers help youth reach their highest potential. All of our programs are built around the YMCA's four core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring.
