Water Fitness Class Descriptions

(You need not be a swimmer to participate.):

Aqua Aerobics

Using the water as resistance, choose your own level of exercise from the beginner to the advanced exerciser. Class often uses pool buoys in strengthening upper and lower body muscles.

High Energy Aerobics

A high energy, challenging fitness class offering total body exercise with an emphasis on cardio respiratory fitness, muscular endurance, flexibility, coordination, and fun for the intermediate to advanced participant. Class includes cardio and strength. This class is ideal for cross-training.

Gentle Aqua Exercise

Gentle aqua exercise class focuses on range of motion, an increase in mobility, balance and flexibility while decreasing joint pain,
stress and fatigue. Class includes continued movement exercises that can be modified for all levels.

Aqua Core Strengthening

Class concentrates on the core muscles; shoulders, back, abdominal, as well as body position, balance, range of motion, and posture. This is a muscle strengthening class and has a limited aerobic component.

Aqua Kick

Using the land kick-box class design, however we adapt the class to work in the water. Aquatic Kick builds strength as well as increases range of motion and endurance.

Arthritis Aquatic Program

Monday and Wednesdays, 11:00-11:45 a.m. “basic”
11:45-12:00 p.m. “plus”

In collaboration with the Arthritis foundation, this class is designed for people suffering from muscular skeletal effects of arthritis and degenerative joint disease. Water resistance allows you to gradually build muscle without aggregating joints. This gentle class includes a warm up, muscle strength, endurance, stretching, and cool-down.

Aquatic Cross Training

An innovative and fun interval workout in the water. Cross training challenges the cardiovascular system, increases muscular endurance and strength, and helps build strength tin the core by using balance. A variety of equipment is used to challenge you in the exciting class.
