2007/2008 STRONG COMMUNITIES CAMPAIGN

Imagine how hard life can be when you’re worried about the health and safety of your children or the well being of your parents.

Imagine the joy children feel when they first learn to write their name, go on a fun and educational field trip, or race each other to the far end of the playground. Imagine the joy an older adult feels when they greet their friends each day, enjoy a hot and nutritious meal, and share the warmth of companionship.

Last year the Mission YMCA worked with over 3,010 local families to provide quality before and after school care, healthy and safe youth and teen enrichment programs, summer camps, and social and recreational opportunities for older adults.
The YMCA is always working to strengthen vital community resources.

How You Can Help ...
Support the home team!  We are working to enrich lives throughout our community. Please take the time to help the children, teens, and seniors who benefit from our scholarships, low cost, and free programming by contributing to the Mission YMCA today!

Warm regards,

Caitlin Brown
Mission YMCA Board

STAR GIANT'S PITCHER JASON SCHMIDT STOPS BY THE MISSION YMCA

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

On Thursday, September 28th, star Giant's Pictcher Jason Schmidt stopped by the Mission YMCA to meet our kids, staff, and members and to present a check from Washington Mutual's "K's for Kids" program.

Washington Mutual's "K's for Kids" program donated $50 for every strikeout recorded by the San Francisco Giants pitching staff this year to the Mission YMCA.  As of September 28th that total was $47,800 and Washington Mutual was kind enough to round this to a whopping $50,000!

As you may recall, on Tuesday, June 6th Jason Schmidt struck out 16 opposing batters to tie a 104 year old franchise record for most strikeout in a game. That means Jason raised $800 for the Mission YMCA on that one day alone!

When Jason came to the Mission YMCA he was a great guest, kindly signing autographs, greeting the kids, and delivering an inspirational speech.

We want to thank Jason Schmidt, Washington Mutual, and the entire SF Giants pitching staff!

Thank you!
