YMCA Aquatics
From adult and
youth swim lessons to Masters, we have it all! Come work off your
stress in our 5 lane, 25 meter lap pool; try an aqua aerobics class
in our 10 meter activity pool; or improve your stroke with one of
our free clinics! Whatever you choose, be sure to finish up with
a dip in the hot tub...ahhh!

Special Aquatic Programs:
- Birthday Pool Parties: pool parties are a great way to have fun with friends and gain confidence in the water through games and learning swimming skills.The parties include a 90-minutes fun-filled session in our 15 meter Activity Pool. A trained instructor and certified lifeguard are on hand to lead activities. An addiotal 90 minutes of festivities and cake in our historic boardroom. Children of all ages are welcome. Parties are booked Saturday and Sunday.
- Monthly aquatic techniques / video Clinics: Video sessions are provied once a month to provied swimmers an objective understanding of their own stroke. Sessions are schedule with a group and are conducted in, and out, of the water.
- Ti2Y Bay Bridge Swim (open water trainning): Learn about sighting and navigational techinques, currents, fatigue and enery conservation, nutrition, and acclimation to cold water. Swimmers will have the opportunity to have their stroke videotaped and critiqued.

Other Programs:
Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Exercise
- The YMCA and the Arthritis Foundation co-developed this national program where physical activity classes are designed for persons with arthritis, suffering from musculoskeletal pain, or who have difficulty with weight bearing exercise to improve their range of motion and muscular strength. In each class, an Arthritis Foundation trained and certified instructor leads exercises for all the joints as well as walking and other endurance activities.
- Classes are free to members or for a monthly program fee to non-members and meet on Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30pm and Saturday from 12:15 to 1:15pm in the activity pool. Members can just show up a few minutes before the class begins. Non-members should contact the membership desk or Ross Goo at rgoo@ymcasf.org or 415-615-1336, for more information.
