Cancellation Policy

The Shih Yu-Lang Central YMCA requires a four hour cancellation for all appointments. Clients not canceling four hours prior to the appointment will be charged accordingly. All non-members must pay at the time of scheduling an appointment. All appointments and cancellations are handled at the courtesy counter, (415) 885-0460.

 

Personal Training

Shih Yu-Lang Central YMCA Personal Training is for all fitness levels—beginners, active exercisers, seniors, or competitive athletes.

If you want to take your training to the next level, or are interested in learning more valuable information regarding your exercise lifestyle, individualized training is offered from one of our nationally certified Personal Trainers.  A Personal Trainer can help you set up a thorough fitness program in order to meet your specific goals and needs.  They will teach you the safest and most effective exercises, keep you motivated, and track your progress. 

Whether you’re training for an athletic event, recovering from an injury, wanting to improve your flexibility, or want to learn how to functionally train, we can help you achieve your goals.

Review the biographies of our Personal Trainers and choose the trainer whose background best fits your goals and needs.  You can schedule an initial consultation by signing up at the front desk during designated shift times.  All Shih Yu-Lang YMCA Personal Trainers are nationally certified with proven experience.

Purchase Training Cards for Personal Training sessions at the Member Services Desk located on the 1st floor.

  • 1   @ $50.00
  • 5   @ $225.00 ($45/session)
  • 10 @ $400.00 (only $40/session!)

 

Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance—please call your trainer directly.  Messages left at the front desk may not be delivered to the trainers in time.  If cancellations are not made 24 hours in advance, client will be charged for the full session.

Personal Trainer Biographies 

Johnathan Tam

 Good Exercise and Nutrition is what helps make a healthy lifestyle.  With over 5 years of science based education and familiarity in staying physically fit, Johnathan has advanced his background working in a fitness setting and knows the importance of both motivating and educating healthy behaviors while providing safe and effective exercise programs.  Johnathan provides his clients’ goals with workouts that involve and improve the major fitness essentials: strength and endurance, balance, proper form, and flexibility; he will help you create productive workout programs that increase your body awareness and realize your physical potential.

Ven Seward

 Ven is certified by the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI) and has a vast knowledge in nutrition, weight management/issues, functional sports training (pre, during, post season), core stabilization and conditioning, joint flexibility/strengthening, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching.  He takes his training seriously and puts in a lot of time to bring results to those who are really motivated to change their life.  Ven takes the time to observe and asses, then develops whatever needs to be done to make sure he is doing his best to help others.  He is a great listener and very easy to get along with.

Rick Orbeta

 Rick holds a BA in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of San Francisco.  He is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), American Council on Exercise (ACE) and will be pursuing a USA Triathlon Coaching certification.  Rick knows the importance of balanced nutrition, flexibility, having a strong core, strength for power, injury prevention, and rest for proper recovery.
