Since its founding in 1844, the YMCA has existed for only one purpose: to fulfill the needs of its members. As those needs have changed, so has the YMCA. Because it relies so heavily on its own members, the reputation of the YMCA is determined, to a great extent, by the vision and commitment of its volunteers. Volunteer members of the YMCA not only assist with the delivery of life-changing programs, they formulate policy, develop new service initiatives, and evaluate existing programs.
YOUTH PROGRAMS
Volunteers work closely with participants in our Safe Haven Teen Center, day camp, family programs, and youth sports.
FITNESS
We have plenty of opportunities for certified individuals to teach group exercise classes, such as aerobics, yoga and pilates, as well as work as fitness trainers.
MUCH MORE
There are still more opportunities to volunteer: as fund raisers in the annual Strong Communities Campaign, as members of committees and advisory groups, in the after-school program, and at the front desk.
HOW TO VOLUNTEER
Don't be shy about sharing your talent and skills with others. If you are looking for the satisfaction that comes from helping others, consider being a volunteer at the Buchanan YMCA.
